[edit] Aim

The official aim of the organisation is "To make revolutionary scientific discoveries in the Zamorakian cause".

[edit] History

The ZTI first started in 10(5th) as a small group of mages from the Zamorakian Magical Institute that experimented with physics. In 15(5th), the group moved away from the ZMI and set up their own secret operation. Their first large experiment was the Yacti, created by the Biological Department.

Their most extencive prodject started in 170(5th), when plans were drawn up for a biological machine that could re-produce it-self. This design was re-worked into a humanoid soldier, and soon they had created the first Clone Drone, named simply The Prototype. This was decidedly a failed experiment, since the Prototype was insane upon birth and collapsed its cavern. The Prototype was locked away, never to be spoken of again.

After the Prototype failed, a new model was created based on elements. These became standard issue, and soon the new Clone Drone Elementals were in nearly every base section in RuneScape. Things were going to plan, until Prototype re-awakened and escaped from the cavern. As news spread to the ZTI, several Clones were dispatched to destroy him.

Prototype, in an effort to save both himself and save RuneScape from the Cybermen, set an electromagnetic-pulse across Gielinor which destroyed his would-be assassins. It is un-known whether it was this, or another motive, that triggered the following Clone Drone rebellion. Clone Drones decided to destroy the ZTI, and began a full-scale war. Luckily for the ZTI, they had expected a rebellion, and were able to destroy the Drones with a flip of a switch.

The remanents of the socioty gathered themselves together and began new prodjects to expand their operation. The Clone Drone experiment was re-awakened after Prototype's body was discovered and brought into a research labratory. Despite the fact that Prototype escaped once again, it had given them enough information to alter their design and produce a new Drone, the Clone Drone V2.

The V2, vastly improved, was more powerful but less autonomonous, and soon thousands had been produced.

The ZTI cave tunnel is impressive, and lies deep underneath Gielinor. It stretches from deep under Canifis to along the magma trails under Arandar. Clusters of caves are grouped together under certain spots, and each of these follows a general plan. Here is a key to the first illistration (The ZTI's main cave) explaining each cave:

1.) The Main Hall. This contains the main figures of authority in the ZTI and is the main assembly point. The main surface ladder lies here, but it doesn't go to anywhere but the island above.

2.) The Office. This is the office of The Leader (see below for details of ranks). It is also his living quaters and this is where Scientists can see The Leader on issues of importance. It's decoration differentiates based upon The Leader's tastes.

3.) The Meeting Hall. This is the room in which the monthly Head of Department meetings take place. It contains nothing but a long table and ten chairs.

4.) Supplies Office. The supply office is critical for the ZTI as it ships in materials such as ores, bars, wood, chemicals and herbs for the different departments to use. It has a set of even deeper tunnels composing of mine carts that spread throughout the system.

5.) Toilets.

6.) Enlistment. This is where new members and members wishing to advance in the group come to apply for a test or form in order to join the group or get a promotion or transfer.

7.) Prisons. These house rowdy members, intruders, Saradominists, traitors, cons and cheats that the ZTI have had to deal with. It is guarded day and night by several guards/drones.

8.) Secret Cavern. This cavern is only known to the Leader and his close ranks, as it contains a controvertial new development.

9.) Imagination Dept. The Imagination Department are a small group of wise people who draw up ideas for the Scientists to focus on and figure out whether they are possible. These ideas are then passed to the Leader and then to the Scientists.

10.) Testing. This room is a large examination hall, with both practical and written tests taking place for promotion or enlistment. These tests are overseen by the Chairman.

The rest of these caves can be found in all bases, as they are Departments, sections of the socioty based on different scientific areas.

11.) Engineering Department. This department focuses on mechanics, making machines that help around the ZTI. They have had work on the diggers, mine shafts and the robotics of the Clone Drones.

12.) Solar and Sonics Department. This department works on experimernts using light and sound, lighting the caverns and providing offencive sonic weapons as well as inter-com.

13.) Physics Department. These scientest study effects such as Gravity, lunar rotation and water piping. They developped many of the Prototype's features. They work closely with the Engineering Dept.

14.) Biological Department. The first works of the Biologics Dept. were to create "Experiments", living creatures that had been biologically altered. The most infamous of these, and luckily the last, was the Yacti. They also covered most of the caves with protective vines and did some work on the first Clone Drones.

15.) Cloning. Only found in a few bases, this room contains machinery designed for Clone Drone use, and is the construction room. On average since their creation, 100 Drones are produced in total each day.

16.) Chemical and Herblore Department. This department works on potions, antidotes, poisons, concoctions, cement, explosives and other chemicals.

[edit] Ranks

Ranks apply most within the main base, but apply through-out the cave system. Only Scientists are usually found in the Minor bases.

[edit] Begginner

There are two ranks in the Beginner section.

Trainee

Trainees are the first rank of the ZTI. They are not allowed in any of the Departments and have to do a test which corresponds to their desired department. (E.G. Making potions for the Chemical and Herblore Dept.).

Newly Initiated (N.I.s)

N.I.s are allowed minor access to their chosen department. They may choose to take the Initiation Test again for a different dept. so that they can work between both. Some snobbish Higher levels call N.I.s Nits, commenting on how they are allways there when you don't want them.

[edit] Main

There are three ranks in this section.

Amateur Scientist (A.S.)

To become an A.S., N.I.s must either complete an advanced experiment or take three initiation tests. A.S.s have a much greater role in the Dept.s than N.I.s, and higher levels are more tolerant of them. If they show advanced skill, gain trust from the Head of Dept. or are an A.S. for three months, they become a Scientist.

Scientist

Scientists are the main part of the group, open for voting and are directly controlled by the Head of Department. They go on expeditions, carry out experiments and watch over Initiation tests. They are not permitted to attend the Bi-yearly meetings, but are influenced by them significantly.

Head of Dept.

This is the lowest level at which the member can attend the Bi-yearly meetings. They have semi-total control of the Scientists and A.S.s as well as their loyalty and respect. HoDs are elected by the Scientists in each Dept. yearly. The only requirements for becoming a HoD is that the member must be a scientist and must be trusted by the members of his/her department.

[edit] Advanced

Dept. Chairman

As the HoD is in charge of one department, the Chairman is in charge of all of the Depts. He sits on one of the three high chairs in the Main Hall His job is to keep the HoDs under control. Similarly to a HoD, he is elected by them yearly. Scientists are advised to see him on minor issues of security.

The Chairman in 188 is Marcus Mobbs, an insane mage.

Leader's Aide

As the name suggests, the Leader's aide gos with the Leader everywhere, assisting in experiments, writing things down and acting as a middle-man. This rank can be skipped if, in the Leader elections, the member involved gains the vote of 70% or more from the scientists. Scientists are advised to address the Leader's Aide in serious issues, while life threatening issues go to the Leader himself.

The Leader's aide in 188 is Kingsley Emanuel, an aspiring scientist who supports Saradomin

Leader

The Leader (also cheekingly known as the Big Red, Big Shot, Slave trader and The Iron Fist) watches over all of the Departments. He has ultimate control over the people below him. He is usually the last year's Leader's Aide, the past Leader being demoted to a HoD (with some exceptions). The Scientists often joke about how he does almost nothing for the ZTI.

The Leader in 188 is Gorak Spartacus, a fierce leader who has reigned for 7 years.
