[edit] Short Stories
Stories so short they don't deserve a page of their own.
[edit] Jump
I closed my eyes. I tasted the salt on the wind as I stood, teetering, on the edge of a cliff south of Lumbridge. I was prepared to do only one thing: jump. Jump into the sea, and not resurface. Rid the world of Penter Cloffman, that was my only goal. No one wanted me. I was orphaned as a child, went through thousands foster parents, and don't even have a single memory as to what my parents looked like. I never talked; never found the strength to speak up. Because no one would listen. To jump, to rid the world of this lonely soul, seemed the way out of all the misery. Hunger stabbed at my stomach. It hadn't eaten in weeks. I had less meat on me than a wyvern. A semicircle of kids from Lumbridge School was around me, leaving the open end of the half curve to the sea. Nervous whispers crossed through the crowd. They were all waiting for one thing: my death. I drifted into thought once again. What was death like? I hoped there was no pain. Pain. The wicked feeling had driven my life at countless foster homes. Whether it was hunger, emotion, or the pain of being beaten by a clinically insane guardian, pain was everywhere. I felt ready, as I drifted back into reality. I savored the feeling of grass one last time...
And jumped. Oh please, Saradomin, make it be quick. I was tumbling towards the sea, careening towards death. I never knew how to swim; I never bothered to learn. I hit the water. I plunged down, and didn't bother to hold my breath. I watched as the air from my mouth swirled up to the surface. My lungs felt like they were about to explode. I inhaled, to rid the pain. Water filled my lungs like rubber sacs. The pain thickened. My eyelids dropped, with no more oxygen to power their reflex. I let myself go. All was dark.
No, it wasn't. I saw a light. I ran. I entered the light. I felt...happy, for the first time ever. The pain was gone. A long-beared man came up to me and said, "Hello, Penter Cloffman. I am Saradomin; welcome to heaven."
