The Draconic Fleet

The Dracomancer Fleet is the expancive navy system belonging to the Dracomancers. It contains around 5000 men, but it is said to be not so popular, as other methods of battle and defence are preferred. Despite this, the fleet is one of the greatest in RuneScape, although traces of it have dissappeared from history.

[edit] Origins
The fleet was first founded in the last few years of the 4th age to help defend dracomancer settlements from other, hostile, groups. They were set up by the 5th Dracomancer king, King Felna Makata, who had been a sailor before being recruited. It started out with around 100 men, and has increased in popularity since then.
[edit] Uniform
The usual uniform of a navy officer is full dragon, with mithril arms, and a blue hat with a feather. The officers have pocket knifes in their hats. The officers do not wear capes, as they sometimes have to wear diving equipment. For more info on the normal uniform, see Dracomancers
[edit] Garrison
The fleet contains four types of ship: Scouts, Tankers, Grandeons and Mediocre.
[edit] Scout Ships
The scout ships are no larger than a small yaught. These are the fastest of the ships. They contain around 5 men, each armed with bows, and have dragon familiars. They are mainly used when other ships are in short supply, or , hence the name, to spy on the enemy forces. Being fired in the navy is known as "going to the scout ships"
[edit] Tankers
Tankers are medium sized ships usually fitted with cannons, and are very slow. These contain 20 men each, and the crew is divided into Stayers, and Fighters. Stayers fire arrows and spells at the enemy, while fighters jump across and use melee weapons.
[edit] Grandeons
Grandeons are the largest ships, with around 100 soldiers. They use a similar system to the Tankers, with "stayers" and "fighters", although all combat classes can be either. Their speed is around 30kph. These are ceremonaly painted red and given names.
[edit] Mediocre
Mediocre ships are old ships that are brought back into service after being "recycled". These can be any of the above type of ship.
[edit] Formation
In a clear battle in open sea, the formation would be the following:
Back of Fleet
M M M M M M M M M M M
S M S M S M S M S M S
M G G G G G G G G G M
G G G G G G G G G G G
G T T T S S S T T T G
Front of Fleet
The scouts are usually positioned near the back, along with the Mediocres. A set of scouts goes ahead to lure the enemey into thinking that they will win. The Tankers and Grandeons, the most powerfull, then rush ahead and crush the enemy when they least expect it.
[edit] Famous Battles
The most fieresome battles the fleet were involved in were also the ones least known about. One of the battles, Battle of Nothern Wilderness, (145), was documented so that it became a fairy tale, and thus changed over the years, until the combatant's names were changed, and the only evidence of the Dracomancers was wiped off the face of the world.
These are three of the most well known battles ( except the one mentioned above).
[edit] Battle of Port Khazard (124)
The battle of port khazard was a last stand against the Vampiric Fleet, which was a powerfull fleet from Morytania. A large armarda of ships aimed to surround the above-ground exit of the Dracomancer Base and destroy it. The armarda was near the base when the dracomancer fleet surrounded the base instead. 5 Grandeons rushed forward, which were slaughtered. The Scouts followed, leading the armarda to underestimate the size of the fleet. They sent half their ships away. The much smaller armarda were lured by the scouts to the main fleet, which then charged and crushed the armarda. When the second half arived for revenge, they didn't stand a chance.
[edit] Battle of 50 Days (134)
As it's name suggests, this battle is known as lasting 50 days, although it actually lasted only 10. The Misthainian Navy, which thought the Dracomancers were followers of Zamorak, silently sent ships into the Dracomancer docks. After sabotaging 5 Grandeons, some night-shift officers saw them and sent the Mediocres and Tankers to stop them. After the Misthainians were stoped, the full army came crashing into the secret cave. The Dracomancers fought from the cave for 10 days, although it was a furthur 40 until a peace treaty was signed between the two armies.
[edit] Battle of Demon's Peak (Unknown)
GAS (The Group of Amateur Sailors) decided to fire at the villagers the coast of a Karamajian tribe village, near the volcano known as Demon's Peak. The Dracomancer Fleet was sailing nearby, and started to defend the tribes, as they had treaties with them over the trade of the lava from the volcano. 5 other ships appeared, but they were all destroyed. This is one of the only battles in which the Dracomancers left no survivors.
