The 1st Asgarnian Naval Fleet was one of the primary waterborne defenses of the Kingdom of Asgarnia. It was renowned in most of Gielinor for its leader and founder, Lord Houinsburry (hoons-ber-ee).

History Edit

During one of the multiple Asgarnia-Misthalin wars, in 154 it was recommended by, at the time a Line Captain, an officer named "Houinsburry" that a new fleet be constructed. "Asgarnia's only defense is the 'Asgarnian Homeland Fleet', which is out at war with the Lums," Houinsburry started at an officer's meeting in 153, "leaving us with no protection by sea. I strongly recommend we start another fleet to defend our sea borders while the 'Homeland' is away.".

Formation Edit

The next month, which was the first month of 154, the ships of the 1st Asgarnian Naval Fleet started construction.

Recruitment started in all Asgarnian towns immdiately. Possible recruits were promised with "Excitement, adventure, and more senior citizen's benefits!" by posters and recruiting officers.

By the beginning of Moevyng (February 9th on Earth's calendar), the fleet was ready. All 400 crewmen needed were recruited, all seven ships were built, and the six needed landers for seaborne invasion were near completion, with an estimated four days left for construction.

Asgarnian-Misthalin War (153 to 154) Edit

On Moevyng the 6th (February 15th on Earth's Calendar), the "Asgarnian First" loaded its landers with 120 soldiers from the Asgarnian Army, loaded its ships with their crewmen, and set sail for Lumbridge.

Upon arrival to Lumbridge, four out of six ships from the Asgarnian Homeland Fleet were sunk, and the last two had very recently crashed ashore the Lumbridge swamps. The sailors of the "Asgarnian First" could see the survivors of the 'Homeland' charging ashore. The six landers went to the shore to help the survivors take Lumbridge. Some sailors from ships of the "Asgarnian First" climbed onto the landers to help with the invasion.

Late in the night of Moevyng the 6th, a mob of angry Masthalin citizens banded together and went to the South-Eastern shore of the Lumbridge swamps. They lighted the Torches and threw them at a Melzar-Class Frigate, the Heart of Asgarnia, and burned it down. The Heart of Asgarnia was the only non-lander ship casualty from the 1st Asgarnian Naval Fleet.

Aftermath Edit

The day after the Battle of Lumbridge, it was announced that 100% of the Asgarnian invaders that invaded via land were killed-in-action. The only surviving ships, which were all of the 1st Asgarnian Naval Fleet, then returned to Port Sarim harbor.

All of the Asgarnian Homeland Fleet was sunk, which made the "Asgarnian First" the new main fleet of Asgarnia.

Healing old damages Edit

In 155, the year after the Battle of Lumbridge, the "Asgarnian First" finally got the replacing ships it needed. In the Battle of Lumbridge, landers 009 through 014 were destroyed, as well as the Heart of Asgarnia. Since the battle, the standard frigate class, the "Melzar-Class", had been since discontinued and replaced by the "Mudskip-Class". The "Pest Control-Class" lander had also been discontinued, and replaced by the newer "LCVP-Class Lander".

The 1st Asgarnian Naval Fleet got the following ships, all of which were of their new classes:

  • Lander-015,
  • Lander-016,
  • Lander-017,
  • Lander-018 and
  • Lum Eater.

New additions Edit

In Fentuary (July on Earth's calendar) of 159, a new fleet was formed, the 2nd Asgarnian Naval Fleet. Because of a possible war on the horizon, high-up officers in Asgarnian forces recommended that another fleet be formed so if the 1st was at war, Sarim harbor wouldn't be left unguarded.

Asgarnian-Misthalin War (159) Edit

During the Asgarnia-Misthalin War of 159, which started on the 6th of Novtumber (October 24th on Earth's calendar), the 1st Asgarnian Naval Fleet did not participate. Their initial purpose, to protect the Asgarnian sea border during war, was respected, and the newly formed 2nd Asgarnian Naval Fleet was sent into battle instead.

Final Asgarnian-Misthalin War (164 to 165) Edit

During the last war between the kingdoms of Asgarnia and Misthalin, "Asgarnian First" did little fighting.

On the 23rd day of Ire of Phyrrys (October 1st in Earth's calendar), a fleet from Al Kharid, which was one of Misthalin's allies, attempted to ravage Port Sarim harbor. The two Kharidian frigates were destroyed easily, at the cost of only one life from the 1st Asgarnian First Fleet.

Destruction Edit

During the Battle of Asgarnia when Port Sarim was burned to the ground, the "Asgarnian First" was docked. All ships, excluding Lander-014 which was overseas helping the Void Knights, were burned down and sunk.

Aftermath Edit

Lander014

After the burning of Port Sarim, it was decided not to make more ships to replace the burned ones. Lander-014, the last ship in the fleet, stayed on Pest Control island carrying troops to and fro from the two islands.

Lander-014 later was decommissioned in 179 because of it being 25 years-old.
